Christina Haack was conceived in Anaheim, California. The first job she had after school was working in the field of real estate. This is where she made friends with Tarek. The couple ran a successful business until 2008 in which real estate developers, house flippers, and others went bankrupt. As a result of the financial crisis, Tarek and Christina El Moussa nearly lost all their assets. The couple went from a $6,000 monthly home to a $750/month rental. The business grew slowly and overall economic performance improved. HGTV as well as Rise to Fame Tarek in 2011 asked a friend to aid him in making an HGTV tape that showed Christina as well as him flipping a home from beginning until the very end. Pie Town Productions' executives were able to access the tape. The execs were infatuated with Tarek's and Christina's love story. The deal was agreed by the couple and HGTV. In April of 2013, "Flip of Flop" began its debut. The show ran 92 episodes between 2013 until 2017. In the show, Christina and Tarek would purchase properties, usually mid-income homes in Orange County, and would later spend a few weeks making upgrades so they could sell the house for a profit. Tarek's focus is on demolition and renovating, while Christina concentrates on design.
