Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero, an American singer and actress is a former model. She is known for co-starring in the film of Prince's Purple Rain and for having been the main singer for the group of girls Apollonia 6. Her name was among the female artists that benefited from Prince's association in the late 1980s. Patricia Kotero was born in Santa Monica in California in 1959. Her professional career began by modeling in the 1970s. Also, she was a guest on CHiPS. In 1984, she was cast as the title of female lead on Prince's Purple Rain (during which time he made a change to her name) and became Vanity as part of the female-led trio Vanity 6 singing with them on the screen under the title Apollonia 6. Sex Shooter was not a huge commercial success for the trio however, she made an even bigger impact as Prince's duet partner with Take Me with You on the soundtrack. Kotero's association with Prince ended when the pair came to an agreement over her career direction. Apollonia 6, the organization she was a part of had a split. The singer appeared in numerous minor movies during the same time (reportedly not wanting to be on the Purple Rain follow-up Under the Cherry Moon) prior to landing an appearance on the telecast nighttime series Falcon Crest during 1985-1986. Apollonia eventually released her debut album in 1988, but the rather tame set of R&B/dance songs failed to make much impression on the music-buying public and the album soon vanished off the shelves. Her work continued as an actor (even if it was a tiny bit under the radar) throughout the next decade as well as appearing in minor TV roles and short films. A workout video also made its debut. In 1997, Apollonia came out with a bilingual album called Stay With me. Later on, following attending school again and obtaining the degree of filmmaking, she started her own production company. Apollonia has many hats. She has been a model, singer actress as well as a talent management manager. She is best known as an actress for her part in the movie Purple Rain from 1984.
