Awkwafina

Awkwafina started out as a American rapper and singer, releasing sly tracks that tackled issues such as racial and sexual identities with a funny twist. In the years before she stepped to Hollywood, she was able to make a few songs. Nora Lum is the daughter of Chinese and Korean parents in Forest Hills Queens. The trumpet was the first instrument she played for her. In addition to classical and jazz, the young Nora started to study hip-hop during her teens. Following a focus on education, she earned a degree in journalism in university and also a women's study degree. It wasn't until after graduating that she shifted her focus towards music. Her 2012 track My Vag a response to Mickey Avalon's My Dick found viral success through the Internet eventually landing on her debut LP Yellow Ranger in 2014. The album also contained viral hits like body-positive Queef & winking home tour NYC BitcheUSD. The final track was closely linked to Awkwafina's NYC travel guide published in 2015. She decided to pursue acting as a profession after completing her first two ventures as a musician and author. She's appeared in movies including Neighbors 2 Storks as well as Bad Rap. In the year 2018 she scored several notable roles that were a breakthrough, like Dude Ocean's 8 or Crazy Rich Asians. It was in June that she released In Fina We Trust.
